About - Malaïka

If you ask me where I'm from, I stutter.

Born in Central Africa to be carted off for the first few years of my life in Southeast Asia, then shuttled to the Caribbean, back to Africa, then to the South Pacific.

But I speak with a hard American R that ties my words together, a false identifier to many who meet me for the first time.

Many have told me to write a book, cataloging the places I've been, or the things I've done.

Maybe it's egocentric in pursuit, but here I am.

The journey continues.
